Injuries...again. :-(
My hip is sore, but this time it's not the source of my injuries. I have plantar fasciitis and shin splints. Looks like there will be no running for me for a while. At least it's happening now and not right before the next race. Obviously the 100 days is out of the question, but I will continue to work out by doing some stretching exercises...I'll be back. :-)

Day 6
Oops, I see I miscounted yesterday. I'll have to watch that a little better. Zumba today, glad to be indoors. Not sure yet what I'll do tomorrow. I'll be running with DS and DD on Tuesday so I'm either going to get in an extra run by myself or maybe do some core strength training. Right now I'm leaning toward the run.

Up before the chickens :)
As we get back from running, DD asks if we need to leave earlier in order to start school on time. My response is yes, if you want to take a shower before you start school...duh. Anyway, her reaction was "but we were up before the roosters this morning." I'm glad she's decided to run with us, and I hope she sticks with it.
Today is day 4 of 100, just the beginning, but we're still going! I'm a little frustrated that I can't seem to break 4.3 mph for my average speed, but it will come. Maybe next week.

Long day...
I'm finally taking a much needed break from lesson planning. It's hard to believe school starts next week. Where did the summer go? Today was a core strength training day, I was glad to not have to be out in the heat. Tomorrow is the last day of W2. I hope we'll be able to complete all of the three minute run intervals next week.
In addition to the exercise, I also decided to start counting calories...something I've never done before. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully well and some weight will start to slowly come off.

Humidity...YUCK!!
I knew today wasn't going to go well when I stepped outside and immediately began to sweat. My pace was a little off, but at least I did finish. One more day of W2 then on to three minute runs in my intervals. Sure hope it cools off a bit or I may have to start getting up at 6 am. Seeing as school starts next week, I may have to do that anyway. More daylight to get more done, right? Day 3 of 100 done!

A Bonus Goal
Yesterday, while reading through the runner forum on active.com I came across a 100 day discussion. I thought, what a great idea, so I've decided to incorporate it in my 5K training...100 consecutive days of exercise. Since I took a rest day this past Sunday, this will be day 2. Although today is a non-running day, we did 40 minutes of core strength training. On to day 3...

Oops, timing still off.
Well, one day I'll remember...I forgot to hit the stop button on my garmin once my run ended, so part of my stats today include about 1/3 of my cool down. I suppose they're not bad considering that and yesterday I didn't work out at all.

Beating the Heat

Day 2
Since we're trying to finish up DS's P.E. for school, I decided to skip rest days. Rather than doing each week 3 days, we'll do them for 5 days. Running at White Oak Park is great since it's more like trail running, without all the tree roots, and reversing direction gives a completely different feel. We did that today, not sure if it's the reverse direction or moving furniture yesterday that caused us to slow down a bit today, but still not bad for the second day.

Before I begin...
Tomorrow I will start the first day of my journey. I will soon sign up for my second 5K, the first one was over almost a year ago. This time I plan to stick with it! I'm going to start with W1D1 of the C25K program, but I doubt I will stick with that just because I prefer running to my own music. Wish me luck!
